Context
Story & provenance
Under Armour's Early Hoop Breakthrough
The Under Armour Micro G Torch released in 2012 during a period when Under Armour was rapidly establishing itself in performance basketball. Full-length Micro G foam delivered a responsive, lively underfoot feel that competed directly with the cushioning setups of more established Nike and adidas budget shoes at the time. The mesh-and-overlay upper kept the build lightweight, and the multi-directional traction performed reliably across clean and dusty courts. WearTesters reviewed the Torch extensively and praised the cushioning as a clear strength. The shoe became one of Under Armour's most-worn team models during the brand's early basketball expansion and helped pave the way for the Anatomix Spawn, ClutchFit Drive, and ultimately the Curry line that would soon follow.
