Embroidered Cable System Goes Mainstream
Nike launched the Sabrina 3 on July 24, 2025 in the Blueprint colorway at a 135 dollar retail price. Designer Ben Nethongkome drew inspiration from Romanian textile and embroidery traditions for the cable-system upper, which threads pleated mesh through vertical cables to create a foot-hugging, structured wrap. Underfoot, dual-density Cushlon 3.0 foam paired with a forefoot Zoom Air unit, and a vertical Swoosh on the medial side reinforced the architectural feel. The concentric S-shaped traction pattern bit reliably across surfaces. The Sabrina 3 became the single most-worn shoe in the WNBA during its first season and the second-most-worn shoe in the NBA behind only the Kobe 6 Protro, a remarkable performance milestone for a signature line still in its early years.
