The Budget Foam Comeback
Nike's Renew Elevate landed in 2020 as a budget hoop shoe built around Renew, a firmer foam compound previously used in Nike's running line. Priced near the Precision range but slightly above, the Renew Elevate offered a softer feel than the Phylon-based Precisions while keeping a durable rubber outsole suited for outdoor play. HoopsGeek and WearTesters reviewers welcomed the cushioning upgrade for the price segment, even if the foam compressed quickly under bigger players. The mesh upper with overlays kept the shoe lightweight and contained. The Renew Elevate didn't win awards, but it served as a meaningful evolution in Nike's affordable performance tier and opened the door for follow-ups that gradually improved upon the formula.
