Nike's Sub-100 Workhorse
The Precision 5 launched in 2021 as one of Nike's most affordable performance hoop shoes, retailing under 100 dollars and aimed squarely at school programs and rec hoopers. The setup was budget-honest: dense Phylon with no Zoom or React, a mesh-and-synthetic upper, and a hard rubber outsole built more for durability than indoor grip. HoopsGeek and WearTesters reviewed the line and called the Precision 5 a respectable budget option, particularly for outdoor play where the thick rubber paid off. The cushioning was firm, with little energy return, but impact protection was acceptable for lighter players. The Precision 5 ended up moving huge volume despite middling enthusiasm from reviewers, simply because at its price point alternatives were scarce.
