Story & provenance
Decade Anniversary, Big Heel Zoom
Marking ten years since the original 2008 Hyperdunk, the Hyperdunk X brought Zoom Air back after the React experiment of 2017 鈥 and went big with it. WearTesters' deconstruction revealed a 14.10mm heel Zoom unit, nearly double the thickness of the 2016's heel unit. Reviewers including WearTesters' Duke4005, Schwollo, and BBallEquips praised the cushioning as the highlight of the shoe, calling it a top-five performer of the year. The shoe ditched the Flywire and tongue conventions for a cleaner, simpler upper, and reviewers consistently highlighted the killer fit and stability. Drawbacks: traction picked up dust on dirty courts, the soft rubber wasn't built for outdoor use, and some users reported Achilles irritation from the rear collar U-cut. Despite Nike subsequently retiring the 'Hyperdunk' name in favor of newer team-shoe lines, the Hyperdunk X remains many hoopers' favorite late-line entry.
