Harden's Pre-Signature Workhorse

The HyperChase debuted in 2015 as a team shoe associated heavily with James Harden, who wore it through the back half of his MVP-caliber season before getting his own signature later. Nike paired a stiff, supportive drop-in PU insole with Phylon underneath and a mesh upper reinforced with Hyperposite overlays. Schwollo praised the traction and lockdown, while noting the cushioning was firmer than the Hyperrev line of the same era. The herringbone outsole bit reliably across surfaces. Designers leaned into a clean, court-ready silhouette, and the shoe became one of the most-worn team models of its season among guards. While the cushioning kept it from being a true signature contender, the HyperChase earned a solid reputation as a fast, lockdown-first hoop shoe for shifty players.
