Sustainability Meets Full-Length Zoom

Nike unveiled the Cosmic Unity in March 2021 as its sustainability flagship for basketball, positioning the shoe as a statement piece for the brand's Move to Zero initiative. At least 25 percent of the materials by weight came from recycled sources, including a Crater Foam midsole that mixed recycled foam pellets into the Phylon. The bigger story for hoopers, though, was the full-length Zoom Air Strobel unit running heel-to-toe, a setup borrowed from the Kyrie 7 and KD 12. Reviewers from WearTesters, FutureVVorld, and HoopsGeek noted the cushioning was lively and forgiving, though support could feel soft for heavier players. The Cosmic Unity sold widely across multiple colorways and proved that environmentally conscious construction could still deliver legitimate court performance.
